Gary is an Anarch. He’s been a Hollywood Nosferatu for well over sixty years by this point, and the Camarilla has been in Los Angeles for at most two years now.  Gary shows no respect whatsoever for LaCroix, and more to the point, he works as a close ally to Isaac Abrams, the Anarch Baron who controls Hollywood.  Exetera’s mod putting Gary in LaCroix’s office there is actively damaging to the canon of the game.

To explain Barons: back before the Camarilla was established, powerful vampires would claim domains for themselves.  Those who claimed domains where other vampires dwelt were often referred to as Princes (virtually all Princes claimed part or all of a city as their domain.)  Obviously this tradition carried on once the Camarilla was founded, though Camarilla Princes are afforded a fair degree more power, as they are often supported by the entire Camarilla, rather than just their own personal powerbase.

When the new Anarch movement arose, many powerful Anarchs started to claim domains again.  Those whose power is sufficient to claim a large enough territory – usually an entire city or major neighbourhood – call themselves Barons to differentiate themselves from the Camarilla Princes.
